About My Yoga Journey:
I found my way to yoga starting with some dvds at a home practice. I "did yoga" as a way to stretch and increase my flexibility. I enjoyed it but only for the surface benefits. Then I moved to Omaha, and found my way to my very first studio class. The class was an alignment based class. Even though it was specifically focused on the structures of posing and postures, there was a message there. The message elaborated on what yoga is. Yoga isn't just about stretching the body. It's not about getting flexible or gaining strength. From that moment on, I was hooked. I found a place and a practice that was meant for me. It helped my anxiety. It helped me find a way to live in the moment, to let go of the past, to focus on what I need for me. As an added bonus, I gained strength, flexibility, and endurance.
In 2014 I went through a teacher training at the same place that I took that first class and now I have a 200 hour Power Yoga certification from Omaha Power Yoga. Teacher training really fueled the passion I already had for yoga. My intention is to convey that passion in my own teaching. I have a deep desire to learn all I can and to share that knowledge with others. I love asking questions that I know no one can really answer out loud during class...questions that I often ask myself in my own practice. I love to see smiles, struggles, and surrenders because it reminds me of my own. I intend to keep it simple, while still challenging your body and mind. I bring influences of my own home practice into simple basic postures, but fling yoga philosophy and my own perspective your way. My journey doesn't have to be yours. Everyone has their own path to take, but this is just simply a way for me to share what works for me in hopes that it will fuel your own path toward inner peace.
